Gidday Andreas, How are you? I've stored Nep pollen in paper bags,
envelopes or wrapped in tissue paper in a standard freezer, not
sure of temp but I can find out if you like. I have not used
plastic clip bags etc but these might be ok if you freeze the
polllen immeadiately. I cut the whole flower if little or no
nectar is present or the stamen and head if lots of nectar is
exuding. You can lick off the nectar, if you are grossly
twisted like myself, as it can be sweet. I then freeze the lot
once collected and usually I hold a paper bag or whatever
underneath the inflorescence and use small sharp scissors and
clip away. I only cut a few each day as the pollen is realeased
onto the head of the stamen. DATE the bag for around the
collection time and name it too of course. As a mater of
interest but slightly off the track, at work with the weeds in
the garden, bark on clay, Iv'e noticed that fruitflies seeem to
be attracted to the flowers and these are a couple of larger
species than the common fruitfly on your old tomato. They visit
both sexes. Ric.
