One of the sarr purps in my Klimagro is sending up a flower! I have two
fairly large (for an indoor terrarium) plants and while one's resumed
it's growing (since the winter hibernation...) the other wasn't doing
much. Then recently I noticed that the latter formed a new growing
point while the old growing point began to swell. Tonight, I noticed
the sphere of a flower bud pushing through! This is real exciting for
me- the only place I've ever seen pitcher plant flowers is in the wild
and in books- never on an indoor plant! I hope it does mature all the
way and bloom.
Question: I know the conventional wisdom is to cut off VFT flowers as
soon as you see them ramping up so that plant vigor isn't impacted- I
usually do let at least one of my VFTs bloom each spring just because I
think the flowers are pretty in their simplicity- so I'm wondering if
the same is true with regards to sarr purp flowers? I'm still going to
let this one grow and bloom, and I may try to get seeds from it- but
just for future reference, should the flowers be removed on these
plants, too?
Cheers,
Paul
