Hi Kit,
The first things you need are rainwater or distilled water and some peat.
The potting soil, spring water and tap water are definite no-nos. Spring
water might actually be *worse* than tap water because spring water have
more of the minerals that CPs hate. I wouldn't bother with the hose idea to
increase humidity not because it is a bad idea but because I don't think
humidity is your problem.

Right now don't expect too much from your plants. They've just been through
a rough experience and they're probably just coming out of their winter
dormancy. My plants are established but even those that are in their native
range (here in Durham, NC) look pretty rough right now. Their new growth is
coming on fast though. My rather poorly made point is -- don't give up on
your plants yet, and find some distilled water until you can collect some
rainwater.

This happens to my plants often enough. More experienced growers can
probably tell you better what's happening; I think it is just a meal that is
a bit too big so it is rotting in the pitcher rather than being digested. If
I were you, I'd leave it alone (but this is nearly always my advice to
everything ;)

Good growing and give us another report in a week or so. In the meantime
check out http://www.sarracenia.com for some growing tips.
