Kit,

Try your local dry cleaners for distilled water. They frequently have LOTS
of it for sale at less than store prices provided you bring containers to
take it away. Most of the time their distilled water goes down the drain so
you might even get it for free.

If this is a big problem then I agree, get a reverse osmosis unit. Highly
worth it!
