According to Mabberley's "The Plant Book" (a very useful reference work,
IMHO), ferns of the family Ophioglossaceae have chromosome numbers of 2n =
140 - 1440. Ophioglossum reticulatum has the highest chromosome number
known (which must be the 2n = 1440).
