Hi All:
Hope all is growing well. Here at Cal State Fullerton, the
CP are in full pitcher. Noticing more thrip on the Sarracenias this year
and will probably have to take more aggressive measures than spraying them
off with a strong stream of water.
One of our non CP is going to bloom. The Titan Arum (or
Corpse Flower) [Amorphophallus titanum] will bloom late next week and I
cannot pass up this momentous event. The last time I left town (Atlanta
Conference) there was a media blitz over our A. paeonifolium. Luck was with
us and we had some very capable people handle the situation. Unfortunately,
one of them, Deborah Dorsett, is no longer with us. It looks like I will
not be able to make it up there! Extensive web coverage is now underway
(http://biology.fullerton.edu/facilities/greenhouse/amorphophallus/index.htm
l) so stay tuned! The public display will be staged at the Fullerton
Arboretum beginning on Monday and lasting until three days after full bloom-
expected late next week.
I'm going to miss seeing all of you there.
