Is that the Patrick Moore who used to be an astronomer but is now a
TV presenter? If so, I'd take any 'scientific findings' he publishes
with a LARGE pinch of salt. I'd give more credence to what Fernando
thinks, being the man on the ground who has practical experience of
development and conservation issues in Brazil.
Last winter, I left most of my Drosera capensis outdoors because of lack
of space and because of reports of frost hardiness. They survived a
couple of light frosts but the first really cold night wiped them out.
I left the pots unattended, even letting them completely dry out in the
Spring sun, meaning to compost the contents when I got a spare moment.
At the weekend I had a closer look at the pots, and many of them are
starting to produce new growth. These are not seedlings - the leaves
are not juvenile.
