Once again, I have a question:
While my other plants are doing well, my Sarracenia psittacina looks
dead. It has 3 remaining leaves, all dried & brown, & new growth
seems to have stopped. I just changed its potting mix yesterday,
wondering if maybe it doesn't like the sand in its old mix. The
rhizome appears to my inexperienced eyes to be okay, & it's got a few
roots that are brownish in color. It's growing outside in a 10" wide
by 6" deep pot with a 3" deep tray with 3-5 hours of direct sun daily
& bright shade the rest of the day, watered with distilled & rain
water. The soil is mostly 50/50 peat & perlite, with the top inch or
2 of the pot being 50/50 peat & sand. Same environment as my other
plants, same pot & soil mix as my S. purpurea venosa & S. psittacina
x minor. No insects or signs thereof on the plant. It's watered
daily, kept pretty wet. Any idea why it's doing so poorly?
Thanks,
-Kit
