I don't know much about germination, but I have often seen fungus gnats in
the soil of my bonsai trees. When I found them, I would soak the pot and
roots in a bucket with some "Ivory" dish soap because it is safer than other
brands. This might be harmful to carnivorous plants because they are so
sensitive to chemicals.
