Subject: Genetic reengineering of CPs

Hi CP people:

Now that science can splice pig genes into fruit to keep it from rotting too
early, the genetic reengineering of CPs has great possibilities.

Imagine a corn stalk covered with Dionea traps. There would be no more need
for insecticide. And, splice nodules on it to fix nitrogen from the air,
and you never need to fertilize it.

Better still, a large venus flytrap, with leaves 5 feet long and traps a
foot wide, capable of getting rid of raccoons, mice, rats, squirrels, and
pesky cats.

Or, how about a freezing cold tolerant Nepenthes that goes dormant in the
winter and then sprouts huge pitchers and leaves in the spring? And,
instead of a mild water narcotic in its pitcher, how about a pitcher full of
beer or bourbon? You would never need to go to the liquor store.

Or, a lawn full of grass blades that are Drosera tendrils. You never have
to cut it, fertilize it, or worry about insects. Just don't walk on it or
play golf on it.

Or, a Sarracenia that dangles an apple inside the pitcher. The insects go
in, don't come out, and never reach the apple. Then, harvest the apple when
it's ripe.

Or, a Heliamphora that produces gasoline.

Or, a cobra lily crossed with an electric eel, that delivers a shock to its
victims. Can be used to surround your property in lieu of a fence.

Or, how about a CP expert who actually has carnivorous appendages? I'll let
you figure those out. Hmmm, shades of The Swamp Thing.
