Barry,
Thanks for your observations on flowers of "D.coccicaulis". I assume
the bifurca tion of the stigmas started in the upper half of the whole
style-stigma arrange- ment (i.e. *not* completely apically). In this
case you should call the plants _D.aliciae_. The petals are purplish
(i.e. *not* witish pink), aren't they? I must hasten to point out that
certain authors prefer to split this *extremely* variable complex into
several "species" (e.g. P.Debbert). Dr Martin Cheek and I, however
believe it is sufficient to recognize only _D.aliciae_ and
_D.natalensis_ as specifically distinct ( as did A.A.Obermeyer-Mauve in
her monograph for Fl.S.Africa).
