My mystery pings finally bloomed, and they all appear to be P. esseriana.
The buds that appeared to be white gradually changed to purple upon
maturation. Quite a pretty little plant.

I've had success rooting 8 out of 16 leaf cuttings from this species. Now
that the weather is warmer, I think I'll try some more.

My plant labeled D. coccicaulis is just now putting up a scape. I'll
let you know if the flower differs from the descriptions already posted.
My plant matches the lax growth habit mentioned by Barry, so I expect it
is the same.

I just got my copy of Gordon Cheer's new book "A Guide to Carnivorous
Plants of the World". It is definitely worth buying, but is more of a
picture book than a comprehensive reference. In general style it
reminds me of Lecoufle's book with gorgeous color plates for each
species, and a set format for describing each plant. The text is much
better than Lecoufle, with several interesting sections such as: a
travel guide to world CP sites (with pictures), a historical review of
carnivorous plants, plus a short bit on tissue culture techniques. I
was annoyed to find that Jan's CP World list was nearly copied verbatum
(sans bibliographic references) while only giving attribution to the CPN
article.

Quite interesting reading, but I am still hoping for someone to publish
a book that covers more than the top 20-30 most popular species, and
with more emphasis on culture and taxonomy.

It appears to be quite widely distributed, as both of the big local
bookstores have it in stock.

Doug: just got your post regarding ordering info on this book:
