The N. rajah info came today from Uwe Westphal in Germany.

His address is:
Uwe Westphal
Bethehof 23
D-3013 Barsinghausen 1
Germany

If everyone wants to get together for a collective order, just send
what you want to me by e-mail. I'll wait until Barry gets back from
vacation to see if he wants to buy anything too before writing to Uwe.
Uwe says to send him a list of plants we want and he'll offer a "more
favorable price". I'm in no hurry so if anyone wants plants sooner, they
can write to Uwe at the above address. After Uwe responds with the
price, I'll then ask for checks and I'll send in the order soon as all
the checks come in. This offer would be only for those living in the
USA. I don't know about Hawaii - it only takes a few days to send a
package from here to those living in the continental USA; sending the
plants on to Hawaii may take too long especially considering the plants
have spent a lot of time in transit coming from Germany.

The plants he sells are "in-vitro cultures/without pot". I assume
these are VERY small plants. If the Nepenthes are more than an inch in
diameter, I'd be surprised. Appended to each order is postage (he
mentions $30 approx.), phytosanitary certificate ($20 for whole
shipment), and CITES certificate ($10 for each form covering 4 species).
Isn't just N. rajah the only species that needs a CITES certificate?
Also, are those USDA green and yellow stickers needed anymore for
incoming foreign plant material? I still have a few old ones but I read
somewhere the USDA did away with this requirement a few years ago. Also,
I read somewhere that in-vitro plants shipped to the USA are exempt from
phytosanitary certificates. Reading Uwe's literature, I assume his
plants are removed from culture before sending and so need to have the
certificate.

If anyone want me to ask Uwe a question, send me e-mail and I'll
pass it along in the letter.

Past messages here have stated in-vitro Drosera cultures are hard to
grow. Uwe must know something we don't - he has lots of Drosera species
available.

He sent a 1-page list illustrated with a few line drawings
containing the CP species he has - 52 species of Nepenthes with 97
varieties and around 150 species of Drosera. I notice his drawing of
Heliamphora minor is actually H. nutans. There's another 3 pages giving
prices of about 100 species. I assume the prices are US dollars - this
list is in English and he uses the "$" character. Also available are
"sterile cultures" of various species but these cost $600 and up for
Drosera, $1200 to $4500 for Nepenthes. I'll just give prices per plant
or per 10 plants (10 plants of all the same species). I'll just pick
out the good ones (I don't think anyone is interested in buying D.
intermedia for $2, etc..):
Drosera:
banksii, falconeri, gigantea ssp. geniculata 'orange flower',
graminifolia, petiolaris 'mini', petiolaris 'Kununurra':
$8, 10 for $60.

Heliamphora:
heterodoxa: $12, 10 for $90
nutans: $15, 10 for $120

Nepenthes:
carunculata, lowii, pervillei, tomoriana, veitchi: $23, 10 for $180
