The black widow spider is quite common in Arizona. I have found them
numerous times on my balcony and around the entrance way to my apartment.
They are usually easy to find as they sit in the open on a crude web of
very strong filaments. In this position they are quite vulnerable to a
spray can of "Raid Max". I do not think the Brown Recluse is in Arizona.
