The N. Alata has demonstrated hardiness and fairly
rapid and extensive growth at certain times. Last winter,
with the plant under fluorescent lights and in a clear
plastic bag, it sent out two new vines and eventually reached
a length of two feet each. The plant originally consisted
of a single rooted vine about nine inches tall.
Rob Sacilotto of Botanique Nursery supplied the plants,
and recommended the N. Alata for my first purchase. He said
it was among the most forgiving Nepenthes.
My N. Khasianas, on the other hand, have put out
beautiful pitchers (very slowly!), but the vine growth has
been as slow as a molasses run in winter.
Both plants have endured the sunburn they received
in the early part of this summer. Both N. Khasiana and
N. Alata are now looking pretty good.
