Yeah, you're right. When I mentioned using Erickson's book I was thinking
it wasn't a very good suggestion. Her work is quite out of date.
Lowrie keys the plants without the need for dissection.
Don, I am confused. You are interested in making a purchase from Andreas
Wistuba even though he gives you the nicht with !!!? If any of you out
there in electron land are thinking of buying some _Heliamphora_,
you should consider Ron Gagliardo's deal that Phil has mentioned. That
is, for the U.S. readers.
Clarke, it sounds like your collection is coming along very well. I
wonder about those _Darlingtonia_ seeds. I suspect you may have had
old seeds. I've never heard anyone say they've had problems with fresh
material. Do you give them about three months of *moist* cold storage,
perhaps just a winter in your chilly greenhouse? This is important for
cold weather plants....
Oh boy oh boy, am I steamed. I get irritated when a tray of _Drosera_
dries out, or when some nice _Utricularia_ gets sun burned, but if you
Really Want To See Me Mad, Mess Around With My _Sarracenia_. WELL, ONE
OF MY FLATS OF _SARRACENIA_ HAS MEALY BUGS! I AM SO MAD! Last night
I did some major slashing and attacking. I hope the plants survive.
I'll probably have to do this two or three more times. I'm using a
combination of isopropyl alcohol on the plants with a follow-up of
diazinon spray. The worst part is when the damn things get into the roots
of the plants. Oh I hate them! I hate them! I hate them!
:(
