That remark about not shipping to outside Europe was typeset into the price
list. Andreas' handwritten remarks giving us info as to plant availability
gives the idea that he's willing to sell to us. BTW, there's a photo of
Andreas in his Heliamphora article in CPN from a few years ago. It will only
cost $.50 postage to write and ask for specifics. I'll write to him in a
couple weeks. The new CPN is supposed to carry info for our e-mail group and
we should be getting a few new subscribers that may want to join in any group
purchase.
If Uwe should respond too, we should be able to buy from both. If anyone has
other ideas how to do this, just send e-mail with your suggestions. I think
allowing six weeks for each response is fair. The tentative schedule is as
follows:
September 27: I'll send to Andreas a list of plants we are interested in
buying to give him a rough idea of the number of plants we are interested in.
November 15: We are given detailed info as to what plants will be available
next spring, specifics for shipping costs and shipping methods, CITES costs,
discounts for group purchase, etc.
December 13: We send our "final selections". We should send this early so
plants will be reserved in case he sells out of some species we want.
January 31: We are sent verification that our selections will be available;
are quoted an exact price for plants, shipping and other costs; and are quoted
the day the plants will be sent (shooting for April 25).
April 8: We send a money order for the plants (Registered mail).
April 25 (Monday of the last week of April): Plants are sent. I'll then
contact the inspection station to instruct them to forward the package to me
by Federal Express. I'll then forward the plants to individuals the same day
I receive the package. I may just send everyone's package by Federal Express
for the final leg - I hope this can be done so that each pays for shipping
cost for their individual package at the time of delivery.
