A few ideas on prevention of snakebites that I've heard. First, make lot's
of noise when walking in the bush/desert/whatever (ie. stamp your feet as you
walk, beat the bushes with your stick, etc.) Secondly, some/many snakes
inject their venom on contact, so if you wear baggy trousers (flairs? YUCK!)
they may inject the venom into your pants instead of your veins... Gaiters
may be OK too and they keep thorns/pebbles out of your boots too.
