Darlingtonia has germinated!

Good news. 2 of the Darlongtonia seeds I sowed a few weeks ago have
germinated. People may remember my posts saying that seed I have
had from seedsmen does not germinate. This time the seed was fresh
collected from a friend's plant here in Cambridge, England - it was
the first time it had flowered. I sowed on the surface of
peat+grit+perlite standing in water, in three separate pots - one outside
(will get freezing temperatures in winter), one in the greenhouse (down
to 45F/8C), and one in the house. The two seeds germinated so far are
in the house (in a sunny window), so they certainly haven't had any
cold exposure yet. I'll continue with my experiment anyway. The number
of seeds in each pot was quite large (<=100) so I might get more plants
than I'll know what to do with.
