Moss in terrariums

Folks,

I have grown various cp in terrariums on and off for years. Typically, when
I start a new terrarium, I will eventually get a layer of moss which will
evetually cover the entire surface. The moss layer can get quite thick
(1.5-2.0 cent.), but usually doesn't seem to bother any but the smaller
Droserae. I generally use a mixture of peat and perlite and/or washed sand
for the soil. This may seem obvious, but what type of moss might this be?
I have always assumed that it generates from spores in the peat. Is this
peat moss (live) or is it more likely to be something local?

Just wondering.
