John,
I believe there are two species of Tribulus endemic to
Australia. One is called the Puncture vine and the
spines can puncture a bicycle tire. The one I am looking
for seeds of, T.cistoides, doesn't have the spines. I'm
not sure what area in Australia they are found, but
logically they would be found in a semi-arid area.
