Perry,
As I see it, problems with obtaining rare _Nepenthes_ species seem to be
quite similar, world wide. Here in Germany, some Bot. Gard.s do have really
fine specimens of some of the rarer species, but won't give away any cutting
either. With these policies, the future of _Nepenthes_ will assumedly be the
species which can enter in vitro propagation will be mass propagated and dis-
tributed soon, and the others, well...
I'd wish those who are blocking exchange or *reasonable* field collecting would
realize they are contributing to extinction!
Of the Mt.Kinabalu species, I think enough material is at hand to start the
in vitro job. It will take some year(s), but eventually everyone will be able
to get his/her _N.villosa_ and _N.rajah_ etc. But how about the species which
are not cultivated anywhere?
Kind regards
Jan
