Fungus gnats get mentioned on this list from time to time. I presume they are
the little black flies that hang around pot containing wet peat. The females
are noticeably larger than the males, and you get tiny wee maggots in the peat
if you hoke about in it.

Why are they called fungus gnats? Are they dangerous to my plants? If so what
can I do to them and the maggots (_P.moramensis_ are hard on the adults I
know)? I had them this year, but only in one pot, and that plant died (are
they guilty?),

thanks
