Hey All!!!!

I just saw this come by, and would be interested in such a trip. Though
I am a greenhorn CP'er, I have traveled Southern Mexico and Guatemala
quite extensively, and always make an early summer trip. I would be
very willing to help with a trip if a group wants to organize.

As far as safety goes in Mexico, I've never had a problem, (except for a beggar
with no hands who kicked me in Mexico City because I wouldn't give him any
money), but I try to blend in. Tourists (and Gringoes) fly in Mexico. I take
the bus. Tourists stay in $75 a night hotels, and I can find local hotels of
comparable quality for $10-15 a night where the 'natives' stay. As long as
you stay away from the 'Tourist traps' crime is much less of a problem than
it is in our large American urban centers like San Francisco.....

If you live in the bay area, contact the Mexican and Guatemalan consulates
for more information about travel in those areas. Both consulates are very
helpful, and located in the same building, so one trip hits both offices.
Northern Belize is probabally another area that would be of interest to people
hunting CP's. Don't bother with the Belizean officials in this country, as
most of their affairs are managed by the British Consulate, and the Brits,
at least in S.F., are pompous, arrogant airheads.

Let me know if any are interested.....

Marvin Greer
