Kirk, good luck with the seed. I plant it in August to give it a shot of
heat. I'm able to get germination. My problems are in getting the plants to
set down tubers when summer starts up. In your climate, the onset of summer
is a little more gentle so you may be able to transition more easily. If you
keep the plants wet and somewhat cool, I've found that many of them will not
enter dormancy. I don't know if this is true in the long run and for how
many of the species.
