Nepenthes ventricosa pitchering

I have a few small Nepenthes plants: N. tobaica, N. x curtisii, N.
maxima, N. khasiana, and N. ventricosa. The first three are pitchering
nicely, I just got the 4th (but have never had trouble with it in the
past), but N. ventricosa is not happy. I grow my plants in an open
aquarium with water on the bottom; the plants sit on upturned flower pots
so that they don't actually rest in the water. I have halide lighting.

Since I put the plants under the halide, everything has done better
except ventricosa; I suspect the light is too strong even though it is
over on the side.

I read that someone was growing ventricosa outside in S.F.; could people
who are successfully growing this plant (I mean getting pitchers) please
supply their growing conditions - light, temp., humidity provisions, so I
can see what I can provide here?

Thanks much!
