This past summer I worked for a wholesale greenhouse and we used
plain old clear Ivory dishwashing soap (1 tbsp. per gallon) to get rid of
whiteflies, aphids, scales, and other nasties. Granted, we were working with
hibiscus instead of Sarrs, but I doubt Ivory soap is very toxic either.
The process we used was spray the plants with the soap & water mixture
and wait 5 minutes. Then spray the soap off. This process is repeated once
a day for 3 days. For serious infestations and for prevention, we would do
this every 3 or 4 days after the initial 3 day treatment.
