Keith, I've had good luck growing Darlingtonia now for over 10 years.
What I have found out about growing them is this, they like to have their
roots cool. In Oregon where they grow wild they are usually found in
areas with a constant flow of cool water. They also do not like standing
water i.e. they need a damp but not water logged soil. I killed a couple
of plants by not giving them good drainage.
As far as winter dormancy, yes they need cool nights and will stand
freezing. The main thing is to keep the winter day time temperatures low
also. I think that limiting temperature extremes is important to all
plants CP or otherwise.
Seed germination? Well I've gotten so many plants from runner divisions
I've never really tried.
