When I first started growing Nepenth.s I was about 15 and was still a
little malicious towards small critters. I used to shoot anole lizards
(I lived in Fl. at the time) w/ my BB gun and feed the bodies to my
plants. The N.s and S. purp. loved them and growth was always good.
The only problem I ran into was when more than one body was put in each
pitcher, then the pitchers would rot. However, the extra nutrients
seemed to accelerate growth so that pitchers were constantly developing.
Also roaches, which in Fl. can get quite big, constantly found their
way into the traps.
