Picture files, though, are already compressed. The best you can
hope for on any one file is 5% or so. Color picture files compress best in
the form of jpegs. For some reason, they don't work nearly as well on black
and white photos as gifs do. I'd suggest physically backing up uuDEcoded
picture files onto disks and redistributing on request. And like I
mentioned earlier, make color photos in jpeg form and B&W photos in gif
form. I don't know how the system for this server works, but here at Texas
A&M, I think the archive space for mail servers is unlimited. I think Rick
is the best person to answer that question, though.
