This spring I will be doubling my collection of CPs. Among the ones I
will be getting will be Darlingtonia to replace the one that died this
last summer. While I had successfully grown the Darlingtonia for almost 4
years the heat in my house killed the plant while I was gone on a
dinosaur dig. Most of my sarracenia also were adversely affected and have
died. The plants get too hot during the summer in the rooms that have
adequate lighting (and terrariums). During the winter the basement is
insufficienly cool to provide adequate dormancy. Yet the oustide
temperatures in Colorado are too severe to winter them outdoors. What are
other people doing to maintain there collections? Has anyone had success
with Andrew Marshall's suggestion for Darlingtonia in the Sept. 92 CPN
newsletter? Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!
John
