I know that the botanical use of "!" is to mean "I have seen the specimen"
(and Barry has an interesting account of his first encounter with this
botanical "terminology"... he figured the author was surprised to see a
specimen from the locality, and hence, Taylor was easily aroused! :-)

So what is the significance of X number of "!" ? Does this mean "I have seen
the specimen, and yes, I AM surprised"? :-)
