Drosera occidentalis

I started some Drosera occidentalis from seed this Spring.
This is one of the 'pygmy' species - very small. I got one
or two proportionally small flowers, and maybe some seed of
my own, but now it is Winter, the centre of the rosettes seems
to have produced a cluster of 'gemmae' - tiny green fragments
that I guess will grow if I plant them separately.
I don't have any CP books of my own to look this up in -
is this what these plants do? Which part of the plant gives rise
to these? Are they buds formed in the axils of the leaf stems?
