Approximately how deep is this water?

What are "water lenses"? I found daphnia and other small aquatic
organisms in the water trays for almost all my indoor plants
(I guess they get eaten outside) and have moved some of them to a jar
with algae in it where they seem to be thriving and multiplying
happily. I add this water to my terrestrial utrics once in a while,
and was planning to try U. gibba or one of the other easier aquatics
in the spring, so I'm preparing "food" in advance.
