As a new user to this Listserv, I understand it is customary to do some
introductions. My name is Carl Mazur, a highschool teacher, married, one
daughter (6.5 months old), and a lot Sarracenia.
I got interested in CP in the usual way... the VFT, at the age of 10 or
so. Determined not to kill a 4 or 5th plant by this time, I went to the
library to do some research on these plants. To my amazement there were
all sorts of Carnivorous Plants out there. So I read, searched out local
areas (only S. purp and D. rotundifolia around here), and started a small
collection. It wasn't until I was 16 or so that my interest turned
hobby. A trip south and a kind university professor who gave me a CP
tour, turned my interest into an obsession. A few plants came home with
me that trip in 1984 and they are still growing in my collection today.
My interests are in Sarracenia. I have a few token drosera, and a ping
or two. With the help of many friends and contacts I have built a beautiful
and diverse Sarracenia collection.
I would like to make contact with other Canadian growers and Sarracenia
enthusiasts in general. To this date my knowlege of Canadian CP'ers is
limited to a small handfull.
I look forward to hearing you.
Sincerely,
Carl J. Mazur
