You may consider the .JPG file as zipped form of .GIF, however you should
not want to decode it. (preferably).

Get yourself a decent viewer that can handle all kind of picture formats
(like GIF, JPG, BMP, PCX,,,) and you can look at the pictures without any
'decoding' action.

In DOS you have QPEG, FV, CSHOW and many more viewers. There are also paint
programs that can import several file formats, so you can use it as a
viewer.
