Russell,

go ahead and put it outside. In my experience Cephalotus likes it cool in the
winter in order for it to produce flowers. I kept mine for several years i
temps around 5 degrees or cooler in winter without ill effects. Just make
sure that you don't expose it to frost. It could take years for it to
recover, but I must say, the flowers still came in the spring.
