Use of mid-atlantic region (US) weather can make growing
D. peltata more convenient. Once your plants have died back
this spring, set the pot outside in a spot where it will get
the occasional rain or watering (no tray now). After 4-6
weeks move the pot under an eave or other shelter from the rain
and forget about it until mid-September. Then move it back
out to be watered occasionally. As the weather cools,
watch for new growth and then resume regular watering. Move the
plant to a protected location before frost occurs.
Note: This has worked well for 2 years now, although I have yet to
repot the tubers. I'll be doing that this fall.
