Tom,

years ago I tried to grow a majority of the SE US pings. I grew them
from seed, leaf cuttings and even bought them from WIP when I worked
with Bob Hanrahan. I have never been able to grow them more than two
years past the first set of flowers. THey displayed the same symptoms
as the ones you discribed, and smelled horrible! I came to the
conclusion htat they were short lived and never looked as healthy as the
ones I saw in the wild. I attributed that to the inability to keep the
tempereatures high enough. In central NJ, March is cold while the SE
approached 90F (30C). cold, while at the golf coast it was approaching
the 90 degree mark (30C). What do other people think?
