Pings die after flower

Why is it that everytime I have a Ping flower, the leave tips and then
entire leaves turn brown and die? This starts in a matter of hours once the
bloom begins to die. I have several that have not flowered and continue to
look quite healthy. Should I prevent them from flowering by cutting off the
flower stalk when it makes an appearance? The species is the most common
sold in the U.S.
Also, does anyone have gifs or jpgs of pings. I have another that has sort
of rectangular leaves that arch out of the rosette, and I don't know the
name. The leave edges do not curl up at the edges. Some leaves are pinkish
as well. I have looked through many books.
Thanks! Victor
