Thanks for the info about the Darlingtonia wayside - I will definitely plan
a trip to see it soon. I also came across a huge patch of Darlingtonia in
the inland mountains as well, this one was in Northern California, about 60
miles inland, and in the Siskiyous. The plants filled a meadow, at about
2000 feet elev., that was on a slope, and had stream water and snow melt
water feeding through the meadow. Lots of snow in winter, and very dry and
hot summers, but the coursing water was evidently heaven for these plants.
It was truly incredible - thousands of pitchers everywhere! Located on the
way to the Trinity Alps, for those who are familiar with the area.
