Several months ago I received a few Neps. (N.trichcarpa,
N.mirabilis, N.gracilis) from a friend. The former two did fine, but
the gracilis wasn't pitchering. So I found a nearby gardening supplies
establishment that stocked ST and subsequently socked it to my Neps. I
started out with giving them the 1 ml./ 4 l. concentration for about a
month, with weekly waterings. I couldn't believe the growth of the
pitchers afterwards. Now I'm cutting back to the concentration
recomended for daily watering with ST (I think it's 1/64 of the
previously mentioned concentration). To get back to the gracilis, as
you could have guessed, it's _finally_ pitchering! (I may also just try
adding some Miracid as well).
What I find interesting is that at first the N.mirabilis responded by
growing much longer leaves as well as bigger pitchers. Now the pitchers
are still increasing in size (the newer ones are bigger) but the leaves
are shorter and wider!? However, the N.trichocarpa has both larger
pitchers (man, they are beautiful) and longer leaves!? As an aspiring
plant biochemist (I'm as yet an undergrad.) I find this especially
fascinating. Plants are amazing!
