The North Carolina Chapter's Green Swamp Preserve will be
featured in an upcoming television documentary, "The Private
Life of Plants," airing on TBS network in October, 1995. The
six-part series is hosted by nature show host and producer
David Attenborough. Through the latest film and video
technology, the series will "look at the world and its
hazards from the viewpoint of plants themselves," according
to TBS.
The Green Swamp Preserve is internationally recognized as
a hotbed for carnivorous plants. Attenborough and a film
crew braved the preserve's notorious summer temperatures to
film insect-eating plants in action.
Attenborough hosted two of the most-watched
documentaries in public television history, "Life on
Earth," and "The Living Planet." The "Private
Life of Plants" will be shown in hour-long segments
airing for six nights from October 9 to October 14 at
8:05 and 11:05 p.m. on TBS Superstation. The entire series
will then air on Saturday October 21, from 12:05 p.m. to
6:05 p.m,
