There was an article in the National Geographic during the early 1960's
about Nepenthes and Mt. Kinabalu. In one part of the article, the
explorers cut off some unopened Nepenthes pitchers and drank from them
saying that, while Nepenthes pitcher water didn't taste the best, it was
however palatable.
Does anyone know which issue of National Geographic this was? I'd
like to go to an old rummage sale and buy a copy.
By the way, the article didn't say what happened to the explorers
who drank the pitcher water. They could very well have dissolved
back in 1965, and we wouldn't know about it!
