Bryan,
I had donated several Nepenthes to the Woodland Park Zoo here in Seattle
several years back and since then they have added birds to the tropical
rainforest exhibit. I havn't heard of any negative reports on the plants
being toxic but the birds being destructive to the plants is another thing.
Several keepers said the types of birds they were releasing were doscile
but that wasn't the case as there is only one vigorous plant of N. mirabilis
from Thailand that is holding its own the last I checked August of this
year.
