I still need to come back to Jan Schlauer's remarks re n. fallax n.
stenophylla and n. fusca. Going through my pictures and collections,
and following Jan where he says that the differentiation is mainly on
the lids, then what grows in Batu Lawi is not steno but fallax. The
same must be true then of the pictures on pg 24 in Nature Malaysiana.
Material from Gunung Murud however show a more eppiliptic lid, and could
be
*true* stenophylla. Funnu enough the leaves look rather similar to n.
*fusca (Tambunan Road), and even the
areal pitchers (unfortunately the only ones visible on the single plant
on Murud) are similar to the young pitchers of Tambunan Road. So maybe
there is enough confusion between n. fusca and n. stenophylla, surely as
far as plants in culture are concerned. John De Witte
