Hey,

Barry Meyers-Rice here. Hello everyone!

I've been several weeks abroad visiting family, friends, and nature, so
I'm sorry if I've been tardy in responding to email. I think I've talked
to everyone who has emailed me, so if you're waiting for some mail or
snail mail please email me again to see why I'm horribly forgetting you.

Just a few bits of CP news....

In Australia I had the opportunity to meet with Terry Bertozzi and his
lovely wife Belinda, Brian and Mary Denton, and Fred and Elizabeth Howell.
We had a great although unfortunately all-too-short time together. An
excellent group of CPers with great plans for the Australian Carnivorous
Plant Society. While trotting around eastern Australia I was learning about
general Australian ecology so only kept half an eye open for CPs. Even so,
I happened upon _D. pygmaea_, _D.burmannii_, and _U.gibba_.

In New Zealand we hiked a great deal more, and through the guidance of fine
Kiwis (introduced, naturalized, or native), I saw some fantastic plants
including D. spatulata, D.stenopetala, D. arcturi, and U. monanthos---the
latter in two very different habitats; a near sea level riverine location
and an alpine bog setting at Arthur's pass. Peter and Lisa Northcote
were instrumental in showing us some of the best of the North Island. And
when in Christchurch, look up Andrew Hodge---a tremendously nice guy who
is so pleasantly eccentric he deserves a television series about him.
