There is a spray product available in most pet stores that has a smell
cats
*hate*. Eventually this is supposed to "train" them not to go near
*where the
smell is. Another thing you might try is putting balloons around your
plants, a popping balloon will scare them. Or you might stand at the
ready with a water pistol and squirt them when they go near the plants.
The water gun seems to be the most effective.

While you are in the pet store you might look for some "cat grass". This is
just some millet or rye grain you can sprout for them to graze on.

I don't think cats hate mint because catnip is a mint. Maybe some hate
spearmint or peppermint but I wouldn't count on it. Good luck!
