A perfect opportunity to plug my new WWW page :-)
Yes, it is a lot more reliable to use the IP number to connect to
www.hpl.hp.com from Europe than the name. I can't remember what it
is offhand, but there's a numerical link from my home page (see
below,) which should do the job. The CP FAQ is located in Arizona
(on what seems an easier to access server from this side of the pond,
so it's a name link,) and can be reached likewise. There is a link
to randomaccess too, but this is also a name - seems to be no problem
from the UK, but perhaps flakier from Italy?
If you can't get through with a browser, you might want to try
http-by-Email - details from a page under my home page - this has
the advantage of never timing out (and it's cheaper,) - you can even
run searches on the CP database, but can't recover pictures yet.

You'll have to excuse the lack of pictures on my site so far - I
haven't had it a week yet, but at least it should load OK without
timing you out.

Happy growing,

Peter
