I received some Darlingtonia seeds from Clark which I placed on
the *surface of a Sp. moss peat / river sand mixture 4:1. I used two
groups of seeds, one of which was treated with a smoke-impregnated
paper available at the Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens in Cape Town.
This has proven successful with most Drossera, and normally
shows no effect on Sarras; but I gave it a bash with the Darlingtonia.

Both seed samples were placed indoors in a tray of water, with the
temperature in the low twenties (Celcius). The smoke-treated seeds
had almost all germinated within 10 days - about the fastest CP
germination rate I have had. The control sample had mostly germinated
within another week or two. Since germination, I have had some
losses, which I assume to be related to higher temperatures (low
thirties, celcius).
